Stormy days shaker Card with CTMH

Hi, I am here with a totally adorable technique to share.  I am sure most of you out there have heard of shaker cards.... I had but the whole idea seemed completely daunting. But due to having some time on my hands and a requirement for a shaker card, I decided now was as good of time as any to give this technique a crack.
You will need.....
A stampset, I used Everyday Life Rainy Day by CTMH ( For more information on CLOSE TO MY HEART contact HEATHER)

White cardstock and patterned paper, I used The Adventure Assortment from CTMH

A few basic supplies including sequins foam tape, transparency and a die ...

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of the making process as I was trying to work my through and it was my first attempt.  But I do have a photo of the finished product...

I stamped the sentiment on a piece of white cardstock which I cut to fit the back of the diecut.  I then sponged on some different coloured blue inks.  I tipped a few sequins in the window and sealed shut with the foam tape.
I stamped 2 of the images from the rainy day set using black ink and coloured them using markers then I adhered to the outside of the shaker box.  I added some CTMH washi tape along the bottom of the card and stuck on a few extra sequins.

Thanks so much for joining me today and HAPPY NEW YEAR :)

CAS Card with Close To My Heart

Time is flying towards Christmas, only one week away for those of you that need reminding ;) With lots of running around and things to do at this time of the year a CAS card is definitely the call of the day.

The persfect set for CAS cards is My Acrylix Rainy Day Everyday Life.  The cute images and adorable sentiments are perfect.

I layered my cardstocks and added the pieces of everyday adventures patterned paper in the corner.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink and outlined with a fine black marker.  I then stamped my images in the corner and coloured with markers and outlined the white piece of card with a fine black pen.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the followers of Paper Crafter Anonymous a very merry Christmas as I will not be posting next Wednesday as it is Christmas day :)

Happy Scrapping

Cute Pressie Tags with Close To My Heart

I love this time of year :)  Lots of happy smiling faces, delicious food and merriment.  Another thing I am loving this year is the My Acrylix Home for the holidays stamp set.   SOOOOOOO CUTE!   I bought a pressie for a good friend and decided to make the wrapping a bit more personal.

I stamped the "DO NO OPEN" stamp on red cardstock with gold ink and the sweet little lolly in red on white card.  I also sponged the edges of the white card for depth.

I tied the whole lot together with gold thread and there you have have it, I am calling it done.

Thanks loads for dropping by and happy scrapping.

Scrapbooking With Close To My Heart - The Tree 2014

I was sent the most awesome products to use from Heather for this month and I loved making this layout of our Christmas tree for this year.  This year has been really special as it is the first year that all the children have been big enough to help trim the tree :)

I used white cardstock for my background teamed with a couple of papers from the Adventure collection and My Reflections "Snow Haven" paper.

I stamped a repeating pattern from "flight of the arrows" my acrylix set onto vellum with gold ink and dryed with my heatgun to make sure it didn't smear.  I also stamped the bauble from the stamp of the month set "Home for the holidays" on a a piece of the snow haven paper and embossed it in white.

I also added some gold sequins just for a little interest and to break of the flatness of the layout.

Thanks loads for joining me today, happy scrapping.

Southern Girls 100th Challenge

Gosh, it is hard to believe that the time has flown so quickly since Tracy and I started this journey that is Southern Girls Challenges.  Over the last few years we have had lots of awesome DT lovelies and loads of fabby sponsors too.  It has been a learning curve but also lots of fun :)  This challenge we would love for all our lovely followers to join us for our special celebration challenge.  Just make a project that is about celebrating and link up in the link tool.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our our design team members, past &  present for all your hard work and constant inspiration.
Also a HUGE thanks to all our sponsors over the years because, lets be honest, without lovely prizes we wouldn't have a challenge would we? ;)

And FINALLY a HUGE, Extra LArge THANK YOU to all our entrants!!!! We love that you play along with us and we also enjoy seeing your gorgeous creations each challenge.

So here is to the next 100 challenges being as fantastic as the last x
Here is my card for the challenge using IVY from LACY Sunshine...

I love the image and the colouring but I am so angry at myself for deciding to add mist and ruining the card grrrrr!  I may have to do a remake on the background :)

Thanks for dropping by and happy scrapping

Mixed Media Gift Tins

I have decided to give handmade pressies to the females in my family this year.  I had lots of pencil tins lying around that i used to keep my prisma pencils in so I thought they would make an ideal starter point.  Here is what they looked like before their makeovers....

And here are a few of the finished tins ready to be filled with gift cards, personalised noteooks etc...

They are all quite different as I have made each one with a certain person in mind. They are all gessoed and then a layer of texture paste has been added using a stencil.  Once dry I have coloured them up with Tattered Angels glimmermist and glimmerglam.  Once I was happy with the base I started to add my papers and flowers and also some prima mistables.  I have then spritzed the flowers with Heidi Swap gold spray as it is by far the "goldiest" spray I have found to date.  I would love to know what you think so please leave me a comment.

Happy scrapping,
Lou

Lets Hear It for the Boys at Southern Girls Challenge

The current challenge at Southern Girls is all about the boys.  We have 3 awesome sponsors for this challenge, Make It Crafty, Iva Nova Chest and A& T designs Digis.  The design team has some awesome samples over on the blog.  I have used an image from A & T Designs for my card which I coloured with spectrum Noir markers......

I am totally loving these markers, cheap and so good!  I just wish I had more colours to fill in my colour gaps.

So that is about it, hope you all have a great weekend and that the weather starts to actually feel like November.

Happy Scrapping.

The Perfect Shady Spot Layout

PLEASE DROP BY MY NEW PAGE ON FACEBOOK https://www.facebook.com/punknscrap and drop me a like :)

Hope all you NZers had a fabulous Labour Weekend and today those of you that are back at work can appreciate the reason we have a day off which is the recognition of the builder from Wellington who fought for the 8 hour working day.
Meanwhile I will stay home and do my housework and care for my kids, which I do willingly whatever hours :)

So yesterday while hubby was home and the kidlets were occupied outside playing I decided to make a layout with one of the older Noel Mignon kits mixed with one of the newer ones.  I found these photos on my stick from 2012.  They were taken in the summer at my mum and dads.

I also added a few bits from my stash including the very cute puffy animal stickers.

Okay so now I am off to do some of that housework I mentioned earlier and then see how the day day progresses :)

Happy scrapping....

Meeting Astar the Goodmorning Craft Guru

On Thursday night my friend Vicki and I went to the Farmlands ladies night in Palmerston North where Astar and Nici Wickes were the entertainers.  Nici is a chef and has a tv show, and she was pretty good considering cooking isn't really my thing at all.  That is probably because she didn't talk about cooking though;)  However Astar was the reason I wanted to go.  Other than hanging out with Vicki of course!  Astar does a craft segment on a morning tv show here and I LOVE HER!!!!!!  Here is my photo of her and I......

I started a bit of a trend asking her if I could have a photo because after I had mine done, thanks in huge part to Vickii who pushed through these woman who wouldn't stop talking to her and would have kept going if Vicki hadn't intervened, lots of other ladies got a chance to chat with her and have a photo too :)

We all made a ring as designed by Astar....

The one I made failed due to the glue not curing properly so the wonderful Astar gave me hers.  She is so awesome it is just ridiculous.  I liked her from watching her on tv but now after seeing her in person and meeting her I am now a crazy fangirl.

So there you go a quick run down of me ad Vicksters big night out :)

Just Like Riding a Bike With Close To My Heart

Hi - I have another card for you today using a pocket scrapbooking card, this time a little more blinged up.

Using a CTMH cardstock base I cut my My Reflections "wanderful" paper to size and matted to the base.  I then added the super cute bicycle card to the left side and sprayed with gold mist on either side.  Once the mist had dryed I added sprayed binding ribbon and a pearl strip to the bottom then layed down a flower cluster.  Very appropriate as Spring is blooming here in New Zealand at the moment and daylight saving has just begun.

Thanks for joining me today, happy scrapping.

Congratulations on your Baby News.....

My blogging friend Chris  is expecting a new grandchild next year which is very exciting for her :)  I made up a card for her and her family to say congratulations.....

Obviously coloured in baby neutral colours as they don't know the sex yet.  Also flat as I sent by standard post :)

The papers are my all time fave MME Sweetest Thing collection and the image is by Mo Manning.  I coloured the image with my copic markers.

The weather has suddenly turned gorgeous of course since school goes back on Monday after 2 weeks break.  So I am off to get some Vitamin D while I can.

Happy scrapping :)

Tea for Me and Tea for Two

A few weeks back Alyce at Kit and Clowder had a colour along and used a stamp by Lia Designs at Whimsy stamps.  I saw the card on the kit and clowder facebook page and thought the image was kind of cute so I went and had a look at what other images the artist had and found this really cute one called Tea Girl.  So I coloured her up with my copics and made a card.....

I used Fancy Pants paper, wild orchid flowers, marrianne designs die,  white stazon and the sentiment is from Stampin Up.

Thanks loads for dropping by, Happy Scrappin.

I have actually been creating....

I have been completely remiss at sharing my creations with you lately but I have been creating, honestly ;)  I am struggling to find time between swimming, kindy and day to day chores but it is happening.  Unfortunately the blog isn't but, and I know I have said this before, I will get better.

My last post was the blog hop post and I shared a Lili of the valley image I had been colouring.  I fixed her hair and made a card with papers from Fancy Pants Be Loved and lots of dies and punches and a bit of pearl trim.....

This actually quite a small card at only 5 x 5 inches but I really love how it has turned out.

I am of to a craft and garden day next month so I need to start getting some cards together for that and also buy envelopes and packets.  If you want to check it out you can find info at https://www.facebook.com/pages/20th-Dannevirke-Garden-and-CRAFT-EXPO/779032122149061?fref=ts
It is held at the school where my boys go and is pretty big.  Also our major fundraiser so if you are close come along.

Happy Scrapping :)

Creative Bloggers Bloghop

I was asked by my friend Wendy  to take part in this wonderful bloghop.   I was supposed to post this yesterday on Monday but I am a little late but since I know it is still Monday somewhere I am going to give my self a pat on the back for being on time ;)

What I am working on?

I am currently working on colouring this cute image from Lilli of the Valley for the Spectrum Noir challenge, although by the time I actually get it done I suspect the challenge will be over.

I am yet to master hair with the SN markers obviously.

HOW DOES MY WORK DIFFER FROM OTHERS IN IT"S GENRE?

I wouldn't really say it does much.

WHY DO I DO WHAT I DO?

Because I enjoy it :)  The scrapbooking and Pocket Scrapping will be something ,y family (hopefully) will look back on but the colouring  of images which eventually end up as cards is purely for stress relief and down time.

How does your creative process work?

I just go with the flow, but I am a ridiculously untidy crafter.  I couldn't craft tidily if my life depended on it.  I grab and go and leave it all until I have no room to make a card then I have a massive tidy up and think about posting a scrapspace video to youtube because my last one was ages ago and is now out of date

And now my nominations are the following lovely ladies who are all members of the Southern Girls DT - because I love my DT lovelies and self promotion is never wrong xx

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you enjoyed my post all about my crafty obsession.

Texture It Up Baby!!!! SGC Challenge.

This time at Southern Girls we want to see some texture on your projects.  We have 3 wicked sponsors and I got to use a fabulous image from All Dressed Up called Pretty Flower Girl. She is adorbs!

Through my trusty CB I used swiss dots embossing folder, a fancy circle die and a spellbinders sentiment die.  I added some ribbon and a peg which came in last months Noel Mignon kit  and added some sequins and liquid pearls.  The paper is from Fancy Pants.   I coloured her up with my copics which I need to practice with again as I haven't been using them much and it shows!  It is amazing how fast you lose the knack for nice blending.  The inkpad is a cats eye from the Swell collection.

Thanks loads for visiting and be sure to leave a comment so I can return the favour xox

Happy scrapping :)

You Spin Me Baby SGC challenge using OUAS

I have been having giagantor printer problems for the last 2 weeks so I couldn't use my fabby dillybeans image for my challenge project for Southern Girls.  So I bit the bullet and admitted failure this morning and decided to do a layout as I had some photos of Angus printed that I wanted to use.

I need some inspiration for a design - I already had my boysy scraptastic kit on my desk so I popped over to Once Upon a Sketch to see what they had going on this month and found an awesome sketch, I knew I would.

So I got to work and here is what I ended up with....

I started with white bazzil cardstock which I sprayed with Mister Hueys Honour Society using a hexagon stencil then sprayed again with Mister Hueys Silver.  I then cut strips from a couple of patterned papers to do my layers.  I then started choosing my embellishments.  The chipboard stickers are Simple Stories daily grind and the veneers are exclusive to the kit I think.  The flair is out of my stash but I am pretty sure I got it from The Paper Doll Company.  I wrote 6 on it with a DVD marker.  The letters for my title are Vera Thickers in Sunflower.

So I guess that is wrap :)  Thanks loads for popping by and Happy Scrapping.

Card with Little Fawn from Saturated Canary

Wow, I am doing much better at keeping up with my posts (and crafting) since I made a promise to myself to make a bit of me time during the day again when I can.

Yesterday I made this card using Little Fawn from Saturated Canary Stamps....

I coloured my image with prismapencils apart from her face which is copics, I have a major issue colouring skin with pencils.  The papers are from a DCWV stake and I have used flowers and seam binding from Wild Orchid Crafts, Mister Hueys Honeydew mist, doodlebug sequins and a button and doily from my stash.

Thanks loads for dropping by, happy scrapping :)

I am entering my card in the following challenges....

Wacky Hairday with a Sketch

It has been a long while since I played along with any scrapping challenges so to ease myself back into it I decided to use the current sketch over at SKETCHABILITIES.

I used a photo of the boys with their hair done for the "Wacky Hairday" at school a couple of weeks ago.  I am glad I got this pic as Connor really hates having his hair anyway other than completely flat so this was a major break through.

I used the last kit I purchased from Scraptastic which was quite a few months back but this is the first chance I have had to scrap for sometime.  I am not sure of the kit name but I chose the boy themed kit that month. I added Mister Hueys mist, Hero Arts ink and Kaisercraft stamps from stash and also a project life card from the Slate core kit for my journaling.

Thanks loads for dropping by
Happy Scrapping :)

My Spectrum Noir Thoughts,Observations and Copic Comparison

Last month I joined the Spectrum Noir club at Better Scrapbooking.  I decided that it was a good way to try out the Spectrum Noir Markers with minimum input from me besides paying ;)  My kit arrived promptly and I decided to carry on with the club. Each month you receive a 6 pack of the pre-packaged markers, supplies for 2 cards,  3 each of 2 stamped images and instructions.  Megan puts together a really great kit that is perfect for beginners to experts.  The instructions are really clear and concise.  The shipping time is excellent too, VERY quick.

This is this months kit which has the yellow pack of markers.....

When I opened my markers last month I was surprised by the hexagonal shape and wondered if this would make my blending technique different than what I am used to with copics.  I had also heard that spectrum noir were not as good at blending together as copics.  I was prepared to be disappointed if I am completely honest being a bit of a copic snob.   SURPRISE - I think these markers are freaking awesome!!!!!  I am not sure if it is how I blend when I am colouring but I actually find these just as good as copics and it really doesn't bother me that there are less colours available. You can find a full colour chart HERE . Also a point against the SN markers is that unless you get yourself really well schooled up on the colours and colour families it can be a bit confusing, I am unsure if this is just because of the fact I am really familiar with the copic colours after 6 years or the colour family names are actually damn confusing.  Another downside it that the colours on some of SN caps actually don't match the marker colour, so be sure to print out the chart from the link I provided. The price is also a huge factor the sets of 6 retail at around $27.00 here in NZ which works out at $4.50 per marker, the copic ciao retail at around $8.90nz per marker so there is a definite bonus to be had wallet wise. Also it is incredibly costly to buy the refills for copics here so have to take that into account as well.  I am not completely sold on the bullet nib however and do prefer a brush nib as the copics have but you can buy the brush nibs as an accessory and change them with the chisel end.
The barrel shape was not an issue and they don't roll away :)

So here is my image all coloured up....

I can see in the close up that my blending under the basket and on his ears aren't the best but that is ok as that is my fault not the markers.

And the finished card.....

I cheated a bit and used papers and embellies from stash along with the kit contents but what can I say.... I am a rebel ;)

So there it is, my thoughts about Spectrum Noir Markers, I think I am definitely a fan girl now.

Happy Scrapping
