Hooray, It's Your Birthday

My baby is turning 11, where the heck did that time go!

When this posts we would have just spent a weekend in Gisborne at his sister's football tournament.

I am hoping we will get some nice part of the family time in the evenings to do something fun.

I made this card with the giant Hooray sentiment die from Lawn fawn, star stencil from Newton's Nook and lawn fawn inks.  The stamps are from the Lawn Fawn Really High Five set and cut on the scan n cut.

For any New Zealander's interested I am selling some of my craft supplies over on Facebook.  You can find them at

Sending Big Hugs with Lawn Fawn

GUESS WHAT!!!!   The sun is shining!
I have managed to catch up on the 50 million loads of washing I needed to do, just about... one to go.

I made this card when I was playing around with the backgrounds the other day.

I stamped a whole page full of the lawn fawn critters from loads of sets and coloured them all up, then I cut them on my scan n cut... honestly that machine has changed my life.

Unusually, all the products I used on this card are lawnfawn.  Unusual for me as I like to mix and match. Apart from the markers of course.

Thanks loads for popping by,
Lou

Lawn Fawn Ink Background Part 2

This is the second background with the lawn fawn inks, the darker bluey green is a catherine pooler ink.
I have used a giant greeting die cut from Lawn Fawn along with images from Really High Five stamp set by Lawn Fawn.

I used a herring bone stencil from Echo Park and glued everything down with my trusty art glitter glue.

Thanks loads for popping by my blog,
Lou

Football and Rain, Rain Rain

 Ugh it is still raining!
My daughter has made her age grade reps for Football (Soccer if you are in the USA) for the Manawatu, we have been really lucky that the game days have been fine.
Because it is my blog and I can, here is a photo of her in action...

She is so amazing! We are all really proud of her perseverance and drive.
She is also pretty good ;)

Actually when this posts, we will be at a game day watching her again, fingers crossed for sunshine.

So back to the rain. I was feeling VERY gloomy to match the weather outside when I made this card.
I think it is pretty obvious as it isn't my usual cheery colours.
I cut a few more bears out when I did this one so the next card will be a little brighter, I promise

Lawn Fawn Ink Background - Part 1

A long long time ago, I was a Stampin'up demo... I loved the colours, the stamp quality and  ink pads.  Then they did a change of rules about what you could post on your personal blogs and social media, so I left.
I still have a caddy with all my ink pads and I use them often.  BUT, sometimes I like to try something new.  It started with Catherine Pooler inks...  OMG LOVE!!!!!
So vibrant and blendy and perfect.
Then I decided to try the Lawn fawn ones since I love everything else lawn fawn.
Sadly, I don't love these :(
I really wanted too with all my heart.
But it wasn't to be.
For several reasons, and here they are..
The colours don't match the lids - I hate that.  The yellow I got is completely different.
They suck for blending, no matter what I couldn't really get a great blend.
They don't stack together - I could have let that go if the other stuff was great.
They are not "Juicy", I thought it might be just the yellow, but as I opened them they are all the same.
SO SAD!
But, I have made a few cards with them and I will hold on to them.
one positive is that the "walnut" ink is a great brown.

So here are the first of my cards...

They do actually look more vibrant in person, but it has been a mission getting decent photos as it has done nothing but rain here for weeks.  It is what I imagine living in England to be like.
I have to wear gumboots EVERYWHERE.

Anyway, thanks loads for popping by, I would love to know your thoughts on your favourite inks.

Mix It Up Challenge - Smooshing

This new DT is totally pushing me out my usual techniques!
I had never smooshed before, but now, I am going to be smooshing a whole lot more.
Seriously, this was so much fun and it looks amazing.

I enjoyed it so much, I made two cards.

This card uses squeezed lemonade, mowed lawn and salvaged patina distress inks
The images are from Catherine Pooler natural flourishes stamp set and I diecut them with the matching dies. i stamped them on vellum and embossed with AC embossing powder in Leaf, which I also used on the sentiment.  This card came together relatively quickly once I had tracked down my embossing buddy.

This card uses dried Marigold, tattered rose and saltwater taffy distress inks
I then heat set and sprayed with Tattered Angels pearl shimmer and added some gold flicks with my kmart watercolour paints.
The die is from Altenew and the hearts were cut using a heart border punch.
This one was even quicker than the first card.

Hope you try the smooshing thing, honestly it is loads of fun.
Join us over at mix it up challenge and share your creation

I totally forgot how awesome embossing folders can be....

Nothing like a blog post title saying it exactly like it is! ;)
So I found my dusty, neglected embossing folders in the cupboard and felt really sorry for them so I got them out to have a play.

The first couple turned out crap as it has been so long since I used them I forgot how to get nice crisp impressions.

I did get there in the end though.
I used a basic happy birthday folder for this card then inked it gently with salvaged patina distress oxide.

I cut out the sentiment with a die from lawn fawn, once in white and again with patterned paper from Rosie's Studio.  I added some sequins, matted in the same patterned paper and called it done.

So easy and turned out pretty cool I think.

Hey there Foxy

I have been making cards a pretty long time, since September 2007 to be precise, and I have just had a giant epiphany, I love orange and yellow on a card.
All of my favourite cards over the years, probably 80% percent have this colour combo.

To make this card I used the Avery Elle Sending Hugs Stamp and die combo.
I love this set as it cuts the envelope separately so you can tuck your selected animal image inside.
The background was make with a lawn fawn layering stencil which I have lost the packaging for, but it is pretty recent.  I used die inks from SU for the layering, blending with makeup brushes which look exactly like ink blending brushes and cost a quarter of the price of repackaged, branded ink tools.
I am all for buying original stamps and dies, but when those same companies buy cheap tools, brand them and sell at an enormous mark up, I am not so keen to buy those!

So yup, that's my card.

Beary Cute Wishes

Todays card is the second that I made with my practice backgrounds.
I like the sky colour on this one a lot better.

The image is from Penny Black and is called Balloon Ride.

Coloured with copic markers and cut on my scan n cut.
Cloud stencil is from MFT and hill stencil is from Kraftin Kimmie's

Kitty wishes

I was playing with some background colours and made a couple of cards.
The first one uses an image from Newton's Nook called Newton's happy mail

My image is coloured with copic markers.
I tried to make the cats face look like stripy markings, I almost got it right.  A bit more practice will do the trick.
The image was cut out on my "new to me" scan n cut.
Not sure of the cloud colour, a little too green toned.
The cloud and grass dies are from Lawn fawn.
Copics used
Cat - E31, E35, E57
Mail box - W1,W3,W5
Flag- R05.R17,R46
Post - E15,E25, E37

Mix It Up Challenge #60 Anything Goes plus optional Clean & Simple

Hi, pretty exciting day today... my first post as part of the mix it up challenge DT.

Our theme this month is, as always, anything goes but you can add the option of clean and simple.
I am going to be honest and say that I really struggled with this theme, oh boy, totally not my wheelhouse!

But I pulled it together in the end, with the gold splashes probably not strictly clean, but I do love a bit of bling!

The stamp if from Waffle Flower and is called "violet and primrose"
The sentiment is a die that I have had for yonks, I have lost the packaging so if anyone can enlighten me of the brand I would really appreciate it.  I have coloured my image with copics and it is stamped in my fav ink for colouring with markers memento.

Make sure you come along and play over at the challenge :)

Meeces, Mices.....

Super cute huh?
Love me some lawn fawn stamps and these little mice flying on the wind are pretty sweet.

I like how the border on this card turned out so I will be doing that again.
Also the cloud background on this one is on point!

I hand cut the images on this one as I don't have the matching die.
The set is called DANDY DAY and is available HERE

Thanks loads for visiting today :)

Watercolour Cuteness Overload!

OMG!!!!  Love how this turned out...

I don't really do a lot of watercolouring on cards  so I am thrilled at how this turned out.
I cut the holey part on my silhouette, as I have saved it as a file a while ago when I made a unicorn shaker card.
Then I marked where the holes were and stamped the images so it looked like they were peeping out.

The images are from Beary Good Friends from Avery Elle (AVAILABLE HERE) and I coloured them with some watercolour brush pens.

Here I am, back again.....

Far out.... time just slips away huh!
So I have been laid up flu and before that all my family had it.... it is gross.
Please go out and get your flu jabs people! Save yourself!

Anyhow, I made this a few days before I got sick after seeing a rainbow stencil tutorial on insta, well I completely screwed mine up, but the actual stencilling was too cute not to incorporate into a card... so here it is.

Pretty simple but very cute.
Plus I used brads, which I haven't done in ages, so yay for using stash.

Lawn Fawn Card and popup set

If you follow my on facebook, then you will know that I LOVE Lawn Fawn!
I really love their large sentiment dies, they are the perfect start point for a card.
When I saw the spring release and saw the pop up platform, I was not that fussed.  Then I started seeing things posted (as you do) and decided to splash out and make the purchase.  I am really happy I did.

It is very easy to put together and quick, gotta like that.
And really makes it look like you have spent hours making your popup.

I have to be honest and say this card and pop up combo took less than an hour.
And that was my first time using the die.

Along with the pop up die I used the Berry Special stamp set and large birthday die.
The papers are from a long time ago by cosmo cricket.

Hope you like the set,

Kraftin Kimmies Tie it up challenge

I was fluffing around yesterday looking for some inspiration when I found a couple of stampsets that were hiding. One of them was this Kraftin' Kimmie Talk to the Animals set.
I went over to the Kraftin Kimmie Blog to see if there were any challenges up, and YAY a new one had just started.

Hence this cute little card which also use Krafty Scenery stencil.
And now looking at the stencil I think it has a treeline on it, which I could have added.

Nevermind I will give it a crack next time

I have just linked my phone to my laptop... what a freaking epiphany that was.  I can now add photos from my phone which means when my proper camera has flat batteries (ALL THE TIME) I can now add pics from my phone easily without the stupid downloading.

Thanks loads for popping by, HAPPY EASTER

Sunshine and Rainbows Lawn Fawn Magic Iris

I love the magic iris die so much.  It is a littl fiddly but once you get the hang of putting it together, there is loads of fun to be had.

I had these dies in my stash and had never used them so a magic iris was perfect to break them in.

As you can see I misaligned the pull tab but it is fine and the recipent still loved it :)

I am sure one of her kids has managed to pull it apart by now but that is the joy of cards.

Remake of a card I hated....

Do you ever make a card and think it is passable but you just aren't happy with it?

That is how I felt with this card....

It was ok, but I just wasn't feeling the love for it.

So I gave it a facelift....

The new version is way more my style, although I am still not 100% percent happy.

Card uses Altenew Mega Greetings stamp and Thanks die
Catherine Pooler ink pads
Liquid pearls

Sending Big Hugs with Lawn Fawn & Catherine Pooler

Here I am back again..... months since last posting.

But I have so many cards to share that I should be able to post most weeks, even if I havn't made something new.

I am starting with 2 cards made with an old love, Lawn Fawn, and a new love, Catherine Pooler Inkpads.

I started the process for both cards by blending a piece of white cardstock with a rainbow of Catherine Pooler inks, once it was nice and dry I cut out the center with the Lawn Fawn big hugs die.
On both I have used Lawn Fawn images.

So those are the first cards from my long hiatus to share.
See you again soon
